I am turning 65 this year and plan to retire. When am I eligible to enroll into Medicare?

Assuming you have met the work-related eligibility requirements, you should sign up for Medicare three months before your 65th birthday.

Do I need to sign up for Medicare Part B if I am working and have health insurance through an employer?

You may have health insurance coverage under a group health plan based on your or your spouse’s current employment. In this case, you may not need to apply for Medicare Part B at age 65. You may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period and be able to delay signing up for Medicare Part B without a late enrollment penalty.

If the employer group has 20 eligible employees or more and you’re going to continue to work, then you may have the option to delay your part b; however, there are many things to consider.  I can help you compare the costs and benefits in your employer group and medicare plan options.

Where do I go to get signed up for Medicare?

If you already get Social Security benefits, you do not need to sign up for Medicare. You will be automatically enrolled into Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) when you become eligible.  Your Medicare card will be mailed out to you a few months before you become eligible.

How can you ensure that I am on an appropriate medicare plan?

Upon initial enrollment and annually thereafter, I review coverage options with you based on changes you may experience or changes that will occur in coverage. Networks, benefits, prescription coverage, and more can change every year. I am here to provide continuous support for as long as you are on a plan with me
